The Impala project has been set up at Legal & General (L&G) with the objective to transform the mainframe engineering and delivery landscape, making use of modern engineering, cloud and data technologies that will increase the ability to delivery quantity quickly while also improving quality. A fundamental consideration was to focus not just on the developer experience but also the desire to remove the need for engineers to have mainframe experience, to enable L&G to attract and retain future engineering talent as well as remove key person risk.
